July Goals

As you know, I took a 2-month sabbatical from blogging. I didn't really plan it, it just happened. As a result, I haven't written any goals since April. Here's how I did on those goals:

1. Finish the 3rd border and make the 4th border for my Fibonacci's Challenge quilt. I finished the 3rd border, but am still working on my final border. Here's how it looks with the 3rd border. 

2. Make label for my QOV quilt. Finished. See here.

3. Finish top of All-Star UFO quilt. Haven't gotten any further on this one.

4. Embellish the March and April seams of CQJP 2013. Done. Click here for March and here for April.

I had three extra credit projects in April:

1. Finish 8 setting triangles for Easy Street. This is my current leaders/enders project, so there's a good chance it will get accomplished. Still working on this one.

2. Quilt McKenna Ryan 12" mini-quilt. Finished. Plus I mounted this and my two other McKenna Ryan quilts on 12" X 12" canvas stretchers. They are now hanging on the wall over the jetted tub in our master bathroom. There are no windows in there, so the lighting is terrible...sorry.

3. Baste my AP and Q Mystery Quilt. With my new J'aime Paris project, this has gotten pushed to the back burner. Maybe I'll have this quilt basted before the end of this year and quilted by the end of next year!!!

July Goals:

1. Finish quilting and then bind J'aime Paris (see tomorrow's Design Wall post for more info on this new quilt).

2. Make the 4th border for my Fibonacci's Challenge quilt.

3. Finish top of All-Star UFO quilt.

4. Embellish the May, June, and July seams of CQJP 2013 (Okay, this goal is probably way too ambitious).

I have two extra credit projects this month:

1. Finish 8 setting triangles for Easy Street, my current leaders/enders project.

2. Totally finish Fibonacci's Challenge quilt (quilt, bind, and label) so I can enter it into the show that is put on each August by the quilt shop that sponsored this challenge.

March and April Goals

Happy Easter...He is risen!

We had a wonderful church service this morning, celebrating Christ's resurrection. We weren't able to get together with my sister and her husband today, so we had our Easter celebration yesterday, which was very nice. My parents and my younger sister live 1800 miles away, so we couldn't celebrate with them. So today we've had a quiet day at home.

Since it's the last day of the month, it's time to talk about monthly goals. Even though this past week was Spring Break for me, I didn't get all my goals accomplished. But it was a good week off work, so I'm not complaining. These were my March goals:

1. Piece the 3rd border for my Fibonacci's Challenge quilt. Done, but I also decided to do some applique on this border, which is not finished yet. See here for the latest progress.

2. Sew twelve blocks together for my All-Star UFO quilt. Done. But you'll have to come back this Friday for my First Friday UFO post!

3. Embellish the February and March seams of CQJP 2013. Done with February, about half done with March seams. The photos of the February seams are here.

4. Trace, cut, and fuse appliques for McKenna Ryan 12" mini-quilt. Done. Here's the post about this project.

My two extra credit projects were:

1. Finish 3 block B's of Easy Street. Done. Here's how they look, along with the first B block that I made back in January.

2. Baste my AP&Q Mystery Quilt. Still not done! I guess this is getting transferred to next month's goal list, again....

April Goals:

1. Finish the 3rd border and make the 4th border for my Fibonacci's Challenge quilt.

2. Make label for my QOV quilt.

3. Finish top of All-Star UFO quilt.

4. Embellish the March and April seams of CQJP 2013.

I have three extra credit projects this month (I know, wishful thinking for sure):

1. Finish 8 setting triangles for Easy Street. This is my current leaders/enders project, so there's a good chance it will get accomplished.

2. Quilt McKenna Ryan 12" mini-quilt.

3. Baste my AP&Q Mystery Quilt.

February/March goals

Here we are at the end of February already! So, how did you do on your February goals? I did a pretty good job, although I didn't finish all my goals. Here's how the month turned out:

1. Piece the 2nd border for my Fibonacci's Challenge quilt. Done. See the latest progress here.

2. Make 5 blocks to send to Alycia for her block drive. You still have a bit of time to join in the fun. For every 5 blocks of her pattern that you send to her by March 8th, your name will be put in a drawing for a gorgeous fat quarter pack. Done. See this post for details. In the collage above, the blocks look like they're different sizes, but that's only because of the way I cropped the two photos.

3. Make 1 block for my All-Star UFO quilt. Almost done. But technically, I do have until midnight tonight to finish it! Check back tomorrow for my First Friday UFO post to see what block I'm working on...

4. Embellish the February seams of CQJP 2013. Okay, not very far along at all. I need to recapture my enthusiasm for this project.

My two extra credit projects were:

1. Finish 9 block A's of Easy Street (I'm trying not to be too ambitious with Easy Street this month!) Done. Here's the post about it.

2. Baste and quilt my AP&Q Mystery Quilt. Not started. I was planning on working on this over my long Presidents' Day Weekend, but other things came up. I guess I'll keep transferring this to the following month's extra credit list!

March goals:

1. Piece the 3rd border for my Fibonacci's Challenge quilt.

2. Sew twelve blocks together for my All-Star UFO quilt.

3. Embellish the February and March seams of CQJP 2013.

4. Trace, cut, and fuse appliques for Makenna Ryan 12" mini-quilt. (I'm feeling a need to work on something that doesn't have Christmas fabrics, since both Fibonacci and Easy Street are Christmasy.)

My two extra credit projects are:

1. Finish 3 block B's of Easy Street.

2. Baste my AP&Q Mystery Quilt.

I will have the last week of the month off work for spring break, so hopefully I can get all this done:)

Monthly Goal Check-in: end of January

Can you believe we are about to say goodbye to January of 2013? This month has totally flown by...I think these next few months will be a blur, since my oldest son is in his senior year of high school.

At the beginning of January, I listed some quilting goals I had for the month. Here's how I did on them:

1. Make Judy's free pattern for Quilts of Valor during the New Year's Day Sit and Sew. Done. See this post for photos.

2. Make 1 block for my All-Star UFO quilt. Done. But you'll have to come back tomorrow for my "First Friday UFO" post to see photos :)

3. Finish my Easy Street quilt top. Not Done. This is one goal I totally overestimated on. When I was making my January list, it was at the end of my 2-week Winter Break, so I was a bit over-ambitious! This quilt requires lots of thinking and pinning, and I've been using it as my leaders/enders project for my other quilts this month.

4. Piece the black fabrics for my CQJP 2013 project. Done. See this post for photos.

For extra credit, I have two more things I'd like to accomplish:

1. Quilt my AP&Q Mystery Quilt. Not Done. Not even close. It's still sitting on the ping-pong table, where it's been since I finished the top. Here's a photo of the top.

2. Start the Fibonacci's Challenge quilt that a local quilt shop is hosting, using more of the Christmas fabrics in my stash. Done. I decided this was a higher priority than Easy Street. If I bring in my progress to the quilt shop, I will get the February directions for free. But if I don't have any progress, I'll have to pay $3.00 for the directions. Here are photos of the first border.

That's how I did this month. Judy asked on her blog if we thought having goals helped us get more done in January. I think it definitely helped me to stay focused on a few projects.

Here are my February goals:

1. Piece the 2nd border for my Fibonacci's Challenge quilt.

I made a little photoshop document to print fullsize and hang up on the wall in my studio. I think it's more fun to look at than a hand-written list.

January To-Do List

Judy at Patchwork Times is hosting a linky party where you list four quilting things you'd like to get done this month. Technically, you're supposed to write the list on the last day of the month, but I was busy with other things yesterday so I forgot all about it!

So here are the four quilting items I really want to get done this month:

1. Make Judy's free pattern for Quilts of Valor today, during the New Year's Day Sit and Sew.

2. Make 1 block for my All-Star UFO quilt.

3. Finish my Easy Street quilt top.

4. Piece the black fabrics for my CQJP 2013 project.

For extra credit, I have two more things I'd like to accomplish:

1. Quilt my AP&Q Mystery Quilt.

2. Start the Fibonacci's Challenge quilt that a local quilt shop is hosting, using more of the Christmas fabrics in my stash.

You'll notice that these all relate to my 2013 quilting goals :)

2013 Goals

Happy New Year!!! I hope you had a safe New Year's Eve. We spent the evening at home, just the way we like it :)

I've decided to create a list of quilting goals for 2013. Hopefully this will help me to be more accountable! Without further ado, here's my list:

1. Make one Quilts of Valor top.

2. Finish 5 quilts made of Christmas fabrics for gifts in 2013 (which are in various stages, ranging from not even started to having all blocks made but not assembled).

3. Finish my American Patchwork and Quilting 2012 Mystery Quilt (quilt, bind, make label).

4. Finish 2 UFO quilts (All-Star and maybe Red and White squares).

5. Stay up-to-date with my CQJP 2013 project.
