This week, I finished my "Afternoon at the Beach" flimsy:
That second row, the fish inside the storm at sea, is paper foundation pieced. I thought it was going to take me forever. I have a hard time wrapping my head around the backward-ness of paper piecing! After I finished that row, I decided to add a 1" sashing of the light turquoise between the storm at sea row and the sailboats row (which I see I need to trim up!), to help break up these two rows. I still need to tear out all the little paper pieces from this row, but that can be done as I'm watching tv.
If you're new here, you may not know that all four of these rows are patterns I got at different quilt shops through the Row by Row Experience. I've decided to only make a 4-row wallhanging, so it obviously won't be eligible for a RXR prize.
This quilt makes me smile. First, I love the bright colors and polka dots. Second, it reminds me of when my kiddos were younger, and my friends and I would bring all our kids to the lake for the day. We spent many fun summer days hanging out at the beach. Now that the kids are teenagers and in their early 20s, they'd rather hang out at the beach with their friends but without the moms!
I'm linking up to Judy's Design Wall at Patchwork Times.
Happy stitching!

this is really a sweet quilt. You picked some good rows. I hope to also get one made and was kind of choosy about which shops I visited based on their designs. Nice work.
Jill, Your row by row is the prettiest one I have seen. I love it. It looks like a planned pattern with the rows blending so well. The row by row designs in my area just didn't speak to me, but these are wonderful.
The rows go together really well. Your quilt looks lovely.

That came out so cute! I love the fish in the storm at sea row. Who knew fish could live in there!! LOL! I am still just admiring my rows from our trip to Colorado. Too many other projects to get done before I tackle these!
It makes me smile too. So cute! The tiny little fish in the sea is amazing. Love it. Congrats on a flimsy finish. ;^)
I like your Rows! I Won at a Shop with my 11 row Quilt. I wanted one that was big enough for a bed. The wall quilt idea is percolating for me. Gotta decide which rows to use.
That's very pretty. I'm still being an idiot swapping rows and plates with people around the US. Hope I can get most of them stitched up (like I need anymore UFO's!). UGH
Your Row By Row is great! I made a 4-row one last year too--just the right size. If you're collecting the license plates, I'd love to trade one with you. I'd like to put together a quilt using them from as many states as I can get. I have plates from CA, NV, UT, MT, ID, and OR. Take a look at my Design Wall Monday post from a few weeks ago: http://rabidquilter3.blogspot.com/2015/07/rewards-for-my-row-by-row.html
Oh, the memories do make it even more special. I love what you did - so carefully planned. Wonderful shop-hop result.
I do like this wallhanging specially the ladies with the hats, here in the UK we do not have a row to collect from shops, mind you we have few shops anyway so I suppose it would not work, although I live in a city we have no proper quilt shop any where near, I have to go to the shows to see a wide range of fabrics etc
The rows you've put together look fantastic!
This is fabulous! Beautiful work.
